Praised for resonant, flexible singing, Canadian mezzo soprano Linda Baird has performed with opera companies and orchestras, both locally and around the world, including: Seattle Opera, Vancouver Opera, Opera Română Craiova, North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, West Edge Opera, ViVace - Opera Philadelphia, Opera Modesto, Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, Festival of New American Music Sacramento State, Vancouver Concert Opera Society, Opera Modesto, Burnaby Lyric Opera, Opera San Luis Obispo, California Opera, Mission Opera, Valley Opera and Performing Arts, Heroic Opera, Bellevue Festival of Nativity Orchestra, Lompoc Pops Orchestra.
Recently featured in Verdi's Messa da Requiem, Linda has also performed in a variety of other roles, including Carmen in Bizet's Carmen, Zita in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, Dorabella - Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Rosina - Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Judith - Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle, Charlotte - Massenet’s Werther, Romeo - Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Foreign Princess - Dvořák’s Rusalka, Flora and Annina - Verdi's La Traviata, Mercedes - Bizet's Carmen, Suzuki - Puccini's Madame Butterfly, Fricka - Wagner's Die Walküre, Tisbe - Rossini's La Cenerentola, Third Lady - Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Prince Orlofsky - Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Valencienne - Lehár’s The Merry Widow, The Grand Duchess - The Gondoliers, and Anna - Berlioz's Les Troyens.
Linda has enjoyed performing new opera works, including: the role of Hannah After in Laura Kaminsky’s As One, Jane Quig in Kevin Puts' Elizabeth Cree, Nora in John Estacio’s Lillian Alling, Bartender in Nicolas Lell Benavides' Gilberto, and Abish in Deon Price's Ammon and the King.
Linda is a native of North Vancouver, BC, Canada, and a Master of Music in Opera graduate from The University of British Columbia. Linda resides in San Francisco and works as a teaching artist for San Francisco Opera.
